Understanding History Through Art
Description
Understanding History Through Art is a guided cultural and creative program running from May 3 to May 16, 2026 at The Confluence Historic Site & Parkland in Calgary. This immersive experience combines a curated exhibition tour with a hands-on art workshop designed to explore Canadian history through artistic expression. Participants begin with a guided walkthrough of temporary exhibits in the White Box space, learning how artists respond to historical narratives and the significance of the land’s cultural context. After the tour, guests create their own artwork using provided materials such as canvas, paint, and stencils, allowing personal reflection on history, identity, and lived experience. The session concludes with a group discussion where participants share interpretations and inspirations behind their work. #theconfluence #calgaryarts #yyc #culturalexperience #artworkshop #historythroughart #albertaevents #creativelearning #gozeeit #thingstodoincalgary
